IBIS Roofing has been involved with traditional roofing for over 25 years.
Our Philosophy:
- Minimum Intervention - the most expensive route isn’t necessarily the best route for a historic building.
- Replace like with like
- Respect the sanctity of a building
- Use of traditional methods and techniques (e.g lime mortar)
Skills & Qualifications:
At management level our personnel are committed to the conservation of our historic roof heritage.
We have one manager qualified with a post graduate diploma in Building Conservation from the College of Estate Management.
At operative level our personnel are given a minimum NVQ training in their chosen field (e.g. slating and tiling) and then follow a progressive career path which includes a heritage qualification.
All personnel hold CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) cards.
IBIS strongly supports the North West Heritage Skills Hub and the National Heritage Training Group with the new emphasis on Heritage Skills NVQ Level 3 and the CSCS Heritage Skills card.
IBIS is a regular participator and organiser of skills events. We regularly attend the annual event at Fountain’s Abbey and recently attended an event at All Souls in Bolton.
In 2007 IBIS organised a skills event to coincide with the Heritage Open Days at Middleton in Greater Manchester.
Building Types:
Over the years IBIS has worked on most building types, listed and non-listed.
These include ecclesiastical (e.g churches), commercial (e.g. banks), public (e.g. town halls and schools) and domestic.
